Berlin theater "Russian Stage" will show solo performance about Rudolf Nureyev in Ufa

On March 18, as part of the traditional "Nureyev Days", the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater will host a solo performance "Rudolf Nureyev. 48 hours". The Russian Stage theater from Berlin will present it.

"Rudolf Nureyev. 48 Hours" is a drama performance in Russian directed by Inna Sokolova-Gordon, director and art director of the Russian Stage Theatre. The script for the monodrama is based on the novel The Dancer by Irish writer Colum McCann, as well as diary entries and aphorisms by the legendary ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev.

The main and only role in the performance is played by Andre Moshoi, a drama artist born in Soviet Moldova, a graduate of the Moldovan acting course at the Shchukin school.

The play premiered in 2016. It was presented in Belarus, the United Arab Emirates, and several Russian cities - Yoshkar-Ola, Penza, Moscow, Tambov, and Nizhny Novgorod. It was recognized as the best solo performance at the XV International Theater Festival "Holy Muse" (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia). Also, it received the Grand Prix at the VIII International Theater Festival "Golden Province" 2019 in Penza. "Russian Stage" comes in Ufa - the city where the play's main action takes place - for the first time.

The Russian Stage Theater opened in Berlin with the premiere of Bertolt Brecht's etude The Jew's Wife on April 27, 2007. During the theater's existence, more than 40 performances have been produced. The theater's playbill features Russian and world classics: Chekhov, Shakespeare, Pushkin, Ostrovsky, Lermontov, Schiller, Hux, Bryusov, Brecht, and contemporary authors.

 "We have dreamed of showing this performance in Ufa  - "the homeland of the hero" for a long time. It turned out that we had many points of contact with Nureyev. It is a fact that our theater is engaged in art abroad. And the fact that this art is a Russian classical one. It is even the fact that the wife of our actor Andre Moshoi is named the same as Nureyev's mother - Farida," Ilya Gordon, director of the Russian Stage Theater, said.
