Ancient Russian holiday was celebrated in Voskresenskoye

In the village of Voskresenskoye, Meleuzovsky district of Bashkiria, as part of the "Ethnic-village in the Voskresenskoye village" project, the holiday of Ivan Kupala took place on July 30. At the event, the guests traditionally danced in round dances, sang songs in folk clothes, and wove wreaths to fulfill their wishes, which they threw along the Tor River.

"We spent the holiday not just in a picturesque place, but in a mystical one. There used to be rafts to send copper from the plant along the Belaya River and further throughout Russia, so this place is "prayerful". Young girls came here every year and wished for their grooms," Natalia Smirnova, one of the competition organizers, says.

In June 2021, villagers through the Expert and Diagnostic Laboratory Development Center won the second competition of the Presidential Grants Fund. They will receive a grant in the amount of 394 million rubles with co-financing of another 350 million to create an Ethnic-village in Voskresenskoye. Until June 2022, the August Spas, winter fun (January 2022), Shrovetide (March 2022), spring festivals (April 2022), ethnic-creativity (May 2022), fairs of pottery, handicrafts, and traditional food (permanently) will be held here.

By the end of the year, a visitor center of the Toratau Geopark, in the territory of which the village is located, will appear here.

Voskresenskoye is one of the oldest Russian villages in the republic. It was founded in the 18th century. It locates an architectural monument of federal significance - a copper smelter, built in 1745 (the oldest copper smelter in the Urals, closed in 1913), an art gallery that contains the early works of many famous Russian artists - students of the Surikov School, evacuated here during the war, a church of the 18th century, where, according to legend, Emelyan Pugachev came to the service.

A mixture of cultures, a mix of paganism and Orthodoxy make the village special and attractive for tourists.
