First flight with VI World Folkloriad CIOFF® participants arrived in Ufa

On July 1, the first delegations of the VI World Folkloriada CIOFF®, creative teams from Panama (Academy for the Development of Folklore "Jose Koreya"), India (Folk Dance Collective of the National Section CIOFF®), Bolivia (National Delegation "Bolivia") , USA (Folk group “Ahuna Ohana”), Mexico (“Vallarta Azteca” Folk Group), Peru (“Bicentenario” Folk Group), Paraguay (“Ibero-Americano” Folk Ensemble) arrived morning flights to Ufa.

Participants of the Folkloriada were solemnly greeted at the Ufa airport to the melody of kurai by girls in national costumes with trays full of traditional Bashkir treats, chak-chak.

“We are happy to come to Russia, to Bashkortostan and show Hawaiian folklore here. I was in the USSR at the 1980 Olympics, ”Joseph, one of the participants of the Folkloriada, said. “I brought my family ensemble to perform. I have 22 children and grandchildren, the youngest stayed with my wife at home, and the older ones came with me to Ufa ".

Participants from Mexico showed T-shirts with a Mexican national doll next to a Russian matryoshka. The first word that the artists learned on the Bashkir land was the word chak-chak.

The guests with negative PCR tests for COVID-19 taken not earlier than three calendar days before arrival in the territory of the Russian Federation also had their temperature checked upon arrival.

The volunteers escorted the participants to the branded buses, and the delegates went to the hotels.

The next charter from Bolivia, Romania, Palestine, Kyrgyzstan, Estonia will arrive in Ufa on the same day at 6.00 pm. The third charter from Costa Rica, Benin, Cameroon, Austria, Bulgaria, Indonesia, arrives in Ufa at 11.00 pm. CIOFF® President Phillipe Beaussant, CIOFF® Folkloriada Vice-Chairman Christian Hidalgo-Mazzei, UNESCO representative Arthur Antille also arrive on this flight.

The VI World Folkloriada CIOFF® will be held in the Republic of Bashkortostan from July 3 to 10, 2021.

The opening ceremony will take place in Ufa at the Ufa-Arena Ice Palace on July 3, 2021.
