Valerian Albanov Museum of Polar Explorers is preparing to open in Ufa

On May 26, the grand opening of the Valerian Albanov Museum of Polar Explorers will take place in Ufa, timed to coincide with the 139th anniversary of the birth of the famous native of the republic and the transfer of Russia's chairmanship in the Arctic Council.
The museum is located at 88a Sverdlov Street - in the former building of the Soloviev brothers' manor. It was decided to place the object closer to the Nesterov Museum for the convenience of tourists. The exposition of the museum has over a hundred artifacts and various exhibits. The largest of them is the 19th century Admiralty anchor, which has already become a new art object in Ufa. Also, the museum has created specialized premises - a cinema and a wardroom for cultural and educational events and masterclasses.
On the museum's opening day, the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Forum "First Albanov Readings" and the awarding ceremony of the winners of the Republican Competition of Children's Drawings "Northern Lights" will occur. The Akmulla Bashkir State Pedagogical University will host a conference to discuss the issues of preserving the historical memory of the development of the North and polar explorers, the prospects for developing the northern and Arctic regions of Russia.
As a reminder, the Arctic Council is an intergovernmental forum that promotes cooperation in environmental protection. The council includes Denmark, Iceland, Canada, Norway, Russia, the USA, Finland, and Sweden. The rotation of the chairmanship takes place every two years.
Earlier, Bashinform News Agency reported that the museum of polar explorers in Ufa received a federal grant of 6 million rubles.
