Exact copies of Kapova Cave fragments to be made in France

French specialists begin to create exact copies of fragments of the walls of the Shulgan-Tash Cave (Kapova Cave) with rock paintings - the main exhibits of the Historical and Cultural Museum Complex "Shulgan-Tash". Today, the necessary photographic materials and 3D scanning data were sent to the studio of the artist Alain Dalis, who specializes in it. The administration of the museum reported this.
"They contain not only the general view of the copied fragment of the wall but also the detailing of its separate sections and rock carvings. As a result, our colleagues in Montignac will be able to recreate exactly the three most striking groups of rock carvings - "Horses and Signs", "Eastern Panel", "Western Panel", the director of the museum Favzil Malikov explained.
Also, artists have worked in the cave who prepare stands, mannequins, and animated films for the Shulgan-Tash museum complex.
"I went to Shulgan-Tash for internal sensations. I needed to look more clearly at the graphics of those drawings as photographs do not reflect all this splendor. Drawings are visible exactly on the spot: volume, the play of light and shadow, and these indescribable sensations. The cave is marvelous. I am delighted with the skill of ancient artists", Ufa designer Timur Sabitov, who develops the logo, the corporate identity of the museum, as well as the graphic design of the museum composition, shared his impressions.
The opening of the museum complex was planned for June this year, but due to the pandemic, it was postponed to a later date. The materials of the exposition are expected to be ready by October-November. The cave itself is closed for tourists for safety reasons; entrance halls and a tourist trail remain accessible.
