Nowruz vernal equinox holiday was celebrated in Ufa

On April 4, the holiday of the vernal equinox Nowruz was celebrated in Yakutov Park of Ufa. As reported on the city administration website, various treats, a handicraft fair, and a thematic concert were organized for the guests of the event.

According to the House of Friendship of the Peoples of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the colorful concert program consisted of national songs and dances performed by professional and amateur artists and folk groups. Bashkir, Tatar, Tajik, Kyrgyz, Kazakh, Turkmen, Uzbek, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Dagestan musical performances were given on the stage. The performers not only sang and danced themselves but also taught the audience. Thus, a master class on folk dances ended in an impromptu disco.

Nowruz plays a significant role in strengthening ties between peoples based on mutual respect and ideals of peace and good neighborliness. The interethnic holiday is held to preserve folk traditions and unite the peoples of the republic.

As the Bashinform News Agency reported earlier, in March, the heads of 12 national-cultural centers of Bashkiria collectively decided to postpone the celebration of Nowruz to April 4 due to weather conditions.

Nowruz is one of the ancient calendar holidays among many peoples, which is associated with the day of the vernal equinox - March 21.

The first republican holiday Nowruz in Bashkiria, was celebrated in 2001. Since then, for almost 20 years, the holiday has been held in Ufa every year on the vernal equinox or on the nearest dates.
