Vladimir Martynov's "Vita Nuova" opera will be premiered in Ufa

On March 5 and 6, the premiere of the opera "New Life" ("Vita Nuova") will take place in Ufa. The author is the Russian composer, musicologist, and philosopher Vladimir Martynov. The opera is based on the work of the same name by the Italian medieval poet, thinker, and theologian Dante Alighieri.

Dante's Vita Nuova is an autobiographical confession created after the death of the poet's beloved Beatrice, a kind of the first psychological novel in Europe.

"Vladimir Martynov calls the work a "postmodernist reflection on the theme of a bygone opera era", stylistically intertwining gregorian chant, the opera language characteristic of the 19th century, and the musical avant-garde in the opera", the press service of the theater informs.

A creative tandem staged the "Moon World" opera by Joseph Haydn on the stage of the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater is working on its creation. The play's musical director and conductor is Artem Makarov, Honored Artist of Bashkortostan, laureate of the Russian National Theater Award "Golden Mask".
