Zagir Ismagilov Composition Competition became international in Bashkortostan

On December 8-10, Ufa will host the Zagir Ismagilov International Competition "Young Composers" among students of children's music schools and art schools, schools, and universities of art and culture.

The competition is held in a remote format. This made it possible to expand the event's geography - for the first time; it will be held in international status. More than 40 applications have been received from Ufa, Russian cities (Kazan, Kaliningrad, Krasnodar, Miass, Moscow, Perm, Rostov-on-Don, Ulan-Ude, Cheboksary, Yakutsk) and abroad (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine).

The contestants' performances will be evaluated by the leading composers of Russia and abroad and teachers of the Composition Department of the Ufa Institute of Arts. The chairman of the jury is the composer, chairman of the Union of Composers of Russia, laureate of the State Prize, People's Artist of Russia, and Tatarstan Rashid Kalimullin.

The competition is organized by the Department of Composition of the Zagir Ismagilov Ufa State Institute of Arts for the grant of the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan to support talented youth in the field of musical, theatrical, visual and choreographic arts "ART-Iskusstvo". The first Z. Ismagilov All-Russian Competition for Young Composers was held in 2019.

"Thanks to the contests, new names of young talented composers are revealed, their professionalism is improved. This serves as a great incentive to create new compositions. In the future, it is planned to hold an annual Zagir Ismagilov International Competition for Young Composers. We expect to expand the participants' geography, contact Azerbaijan, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan, and other countries," said the professor, the composer's daughter Leila Ismagilova.

Recall that in the Republic of Bashkortostan, in honor of the outstanding composer, public figure, and teacher, People's Artist of the USSR Zagir Ismagilov (1917 - 2003), the International Competition of Music Performers is held. Pianists, string players, and vocalists take part in it.
