Ballet dedicated to Rudolf Nureyev will be staged in Ufa

The Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater plans to stage a ballet about Rudolf Nureyev. The name has not yet been decided; the tentative title is "Nureyev", General Director of the theater Ilmar Almukhametov told the Bashinform News Agency.

The premiere is scheduled for the end of the 83rd season. Negotiations are currently underway with the foundation of the outstanding French choreographer Roland Petit. The ballet will be staged by the invited chief choreographer of the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater, Honored Artist of Russia, laureate of international competitions, premier of the Mikhailovsky Theater, invited soloist of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia Ivan Vasiliev.

It should be noted that a ballet performance in memory of Rudolf Nureyev takes place at the Paris National Opera throughout October. The theater's stars and leading dancers pay tribute to him by performing solos and pas de deux from his greatest ballets: The Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Cinderella, Manfred, and Don Quixote.
