Ufa brings together turkologists from Russia and CIS
On September 30, Ufa will host the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference "Bashkir Identity in the Turkic-Speaking Cultural Paradigm of Russia". Applications for participation were received from hundreds of Turkologists from Russia and neighboring countries.
The conference will be attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Government RB Azat Badranov, Chairman of the Academy of Sciences RB Alfis Gayazov, and Director of the Bashkortostan Institute for Strategic Studies Alexander Degtyarev.
The central message of all discussions is to “Future through the prism of history and in the context of the present”. During the conference, scientists will discuss key topics in the development of the Bashkir people in the Turkic and Russian paradigm.
Scientists propose to discuss a wide range of issues: from markers of ethnic identity in the 17th century to using the Lingvodoc platform for studying the Bashkir language and its dialects (especially relevant in light of the republican conference of Bashkir language teachers that ended last week).
Approaches from understanding borderline identities to the philosophy of understanding ethnicity on the threshold of the third millennium will be considered. It is especially important for ethnologists and ethnopolitologists when identifying markers of all-Russian civic identity. It is in interculturalism that the understanding of the future of our country as a single community is seen.
The conference will be structured in three sections:
- Languages, literature and folklore of the Turkic peoples: linguistic and socio-cultural aspects;
- Ethnography and reconstruction of historical memory in modern conditions;
- Ethnopolitological aspects in the identity of the Bashkirs and other Turkic peoples of Russia.
The next day after the conference, scientists will take part in an expanded meeting of the Commission on the History of the Bashkir People of the World Kurultay (Congress) of the Bashkirs.
