Opera House launches laboratory for writing operas in Bashkir language in Ufa

The Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theater has become one of the winners of the competition for grants for the preservation and development of the state languages ​​of the republic and the languages ​​of the peoples of Bashkortostan, the press service of the theater reports.

The "Laboratory of the Modern Bashkir Opera" project will be organized in the upcoming theater season 2020/2021. The laboratory includes writing and choosing the best libretto in the Bashkir language on the basis of the Bashkir legend, fairy tale or epic, a composers competition, joint work of composers and librettists to create an opera sketch.

The final stage of the laboratory will be the theatrical implementation of six opera sketches (short productions) with the participation of the company of the theater on the Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theater stage, as well as the selection of the best works for further work on creating the opera.

The project manager is the art director of the theater, people's artist of Bashkortostan, the soloist of the Mariinsky Theater Askar Abdrazakov.
