Unique "Sarmatian Gold" collection has become available to public in Ufa museum

Since February 25, the Ufa Museum of Archeology and Ethnography, which houses the world-famous collection of “Sarmatian Gold”, has become available to visitors.

Previously, the museum functioned as the scientific base of the R.G. Kuzeev Institute of Ethnological Research of the Ufa Scientific Center RAS and, therefore, was not open to the general public.

“Sarmatian Gold” - under this name, unique gold items from the Filippovsky mounds of the 5th-4th centuries BC, excavated by the famous Bashkir archaeologist Anatoly Pshenichnyuk in 1987-1988, are known in archaeological science. These findings are considered as a scientific discovery of global significance. It was they who made scientists pay attention to the Southern Urals as one of the major cultural, economic and political centers of Steppe Eurasia.

“Such masterpieces should be available to all people, not just scientists. Therefore, we took several measures to open the museum to the general public. Every resident of our republic and each of our guests should see this worth-visiting collection for themselves,” Radiy Khabirov, Head of Bashkiria, posted on social media.

The museum is located at 6, K. Marx Street, tel. +7 (347) 272-29-79. Opening hours: from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily without a break and days off. Tickets cost from 200 to 400 rubles, discounts will be provided to pensioners and students.
