Ufa will host Republican Native Languages Festival

The Republican Native Languages Festival, dedicated to the International Mother Language Day, will be held in Ufa on February 26. Within its framework, the House of Friendship of the Peoples of Bashkortostan with the support of the Ministry of Culture RB, the Ufa administration and the Assembly of Peoples RB will hold two events.
At 12.00 pm, the event will start at the M. Karim Bashkir Gymnasium No. 158. "We Speak Our Native Language" campaign will be organized there with a competitive program and the distribution of flags and flyers.
Representatives of historical and cultural centers from all over the republic will hold master classes and games for children in the foyer of the gymnasium, devoted to the culture and spiritual values ​​of the peoples living in Bashkortostan. Employees of the Aksakov Historical And Cultural Center from the Belebeyevsky district will teach how to make folk dolls-amulets.
The concert will feature songs and poems in the languages ​​of the peoples of the multinational Bashkortostan - Bashkir, Tatar, Udmurt, Belarusian, Latvian, and others. Aleksey Ibulaev will play the Mari bagpipe, and the Latvian folklore ensemble Atbalss will perform a folk dance with belts.
Guests of the holiday will take part in the quest game "Folklore - Centuries-Old Wisdom of People", dedicated to the World Folkloriada 2020.
An information and entertainment program will begin at the Ufa Children's Philharmonic Society at 4.00 pm. National-cultural public organizations, professional cultural and art workers, amateur art groups, students of universities and colleges will participate in it.
International Mother Language Day was proclaimed by the General Conference of UNESCO on November 17, 1999. It is celebrated annually in February since 2000 to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. The date was chosen to commemorate the events that took place on February 21, 1952, in Dhaka (now the capital of Bangladesh). There the students went to a protest march in defense of their native Bengali language and died from police bullets.
