Ufa native Alexander Segal succeeded in creating most popular cartoons in world

Our fellow countryman, computer graphics and animation specialist Alexander Segal lives in Canada’s Vancouver and successfully works on creating the most popular cartoons in the world. He was born and lived most of his life in Ufa, where he began his creative career in one of the first and most famous advertising agencies of the city in the 1990s, which was a pioneer in the field of computer technology throughout Russia.

Today, Alexander works at Mainframe Studios, the creator of many popular animated series, including the famous Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures, Spy Kids: Mission Critical, and the movie Escape from Planet Earth. The latter was produced by the famous Harvey Weinstein and dubbed by such movie stars as Sarah Jessica Parker, Brendan Fraser, Jessica Alba, William Shatner.

Alexander Segal has also worked on the no less famous TV series “Octonauts”, “Bob the Builder”, films “Ratchet & Clank”, “Open Season 4”, “Surf's Up 2” and other animation projects for films, television, YouTube, Netflix. Our fellow countryman got across the ocean, having graduated from the Ufa university and independently mastered the latest computer technologies in the 1990s, which were just starting to develop at that time.

In 1991, at the height of one of the most severe economic crises experienced by Russia, he visited the first international conference on computer graphics, Graphikon-91 in Moscow where he realized what he wanted to do in his life.

Later, in 1993, together with his school friend Ildar Kayumov, he launched one of the first computer graphics studios in Russia - RMC, which started to create commercials, TV screens, videos, and other media products. He decided to leave Russia in the early 2000s, having received a six-month contract from Scotland to work on the animated television project "Noddy and the Island Adventure". Then there was a proposal to work on the Space Chimps project in Vancouver.

Alexander considers the most popular works in which creation he took part, an animated series based on the famous film "Spy Kids: Mission Critical" - and the film "Escape from Planet Earth".
