French scientists are ready to help in creating Shulgan-Tash museum complex exposition

French scientists are ready to help in creating an exposition of the Shulgan-Tash Historical and Cultural Museum Complex. Cooperation can begin in December 2019 with the signing of a memorandum between the branch of the French Ministry of Culture in Perigueux and the Shulgan-Tash Cave Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve. This agreement was reached during a round table organized by the French Ministry of Culture as part of the anniversary events on the 40th anniversary of the inclusion of prehistoric monuments and caves with rock paintings in the Weser Valley in the UNESCO World Heritage List, the international symposium "UNESCO Prehistoric Objects and Their Integration into Territories" .
The delegation of Bashkortostan, which took part in the anniversary events, recently returned from Europe. The trip to France and Spain took place from November 27 to December 7. The University of Bordeaux in France undertook half of the cost of the trip.
Bashkortostan was represented by a delegation of scientists from the Research & Production Center for the Protection and Use of Immovable Objects of Cultural Heritage of Bashkortostan, the Shulgan-Tash Cave Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, and Rustam Alibayev, the author of the Shulgan-Tash Museum Complex project. The director of the Research & Production Center Danir Gainullin made a report on promoting the Shulgan-Tash cave to UNESCO World Heritage List and building a modern museum complex in the Burzyansky area to representatives of the scientific community of France, Spain, Italy, and Portugal at the symposium. In addition to participating in the symposium, the Bashkir delegation examined the management system of the archeology monuments of Le Mustier, La Ferassi, Laugeri, caves Font de Gom, Combarelle, De Cap Blanc, El Castillo, El Pendo. It visited the museum complexes of Lascaux IV, Ekain, Altamira, the History Museum in Les Eisi de Taillac, and the Museum of Archeology in Santander.
“Following the events, the director of the Altamira Cave Museum, Pilar Fatas, the ICOMOS experts Hugo Plisson and Jean-Michel Genest, and the geomorphologist Jean-Jacques Delannoy was involved in the design of the exposition of the Shulgan-Tash museum complex. In addition, an agreement was reached to hold a working meeting of rock art restorers in February 2020 with the participation of French specialist Eudald Guillamet, under whose guidance the walls of the Shulgan-Tash cave were cleaned and restored. Negotiations were held with Alain Dalis and Francis Reinbach - the leaders of the two best workshops in France, specializing in making copies of caves and decoration of expositions devoted to cave art. Proposals for cooperation in the framework of designing the exposition of the Shulgan-Tash museum complex were received”, the head of the delegation Danir Gainullin announced after the trip.
According to the architect of the museum complex under construction in the Burzyansky district, Rustam Alibaev, the creative team is in search of solutions to the museum's exposition.
The construction of the Shulgan-Tash museum complex is underway in the Burzyansky district in the area of ​​Murat-Tugay. In parallel, works began on the creation of a project of the exposition. To this end, a scientific group was created, which included scientists from Russian research centers - experts in the field of rock art.
