"Zuleikha" by Bashkir Drama was great success at International Theater Olympics

The performance of the Bashkir Academic Drama Theater “Zuleikha Opens Her Eyes” marks new routes on the map of Russia: Yaroslavl, Moscow, Kazan, Orenburg, Grozny, Irkutsk, and now St. Petersburg. The day before, the theater returned from the International Theater Olympics.
On October 27 and 28, Airat Abushakhmanov’s play “Zuleikha Opens Her Eyes” based on Guzel Yakhina’s novel was shown on the stage of the G. Tovstonogov Bolshoi Drama Theater (BDT). The performance was played in the Bashkir language with simultaneous translation into Russian.
A large collective of Bashkir theater visits the cultural capital of Russia for the third time. Now it was invited to the Theater Olympics, which was attended by more than 50 theater productions from 20 countries.
Two days in the BDT passed with a full house, the performance of the Bashkir theater was able to win the hearts of not only sophisticated Petersburg spectators but also visiting guests of the Northern capital. Tickets were sold out a few months before the show.
Recall that in 2019 the performance was nominated for the Golden Mask National Theater Award in six categories and became a laureate in the nomination For Stage Reading of Guzel Yakhina’s novel “Zuleikha Opens Her Eyes”.
"Zuleikha" continues its journey across the country: in November, the regional festival "Golden Mask" takes place in Izhevsk, in December - participation in the 5th International Theater Festival "History of the Russian State. Fatherland and Fate” in Ulyanovsk. Also as part of the theater tour the play will be shown on the stage of the M. Gorky Orenburg Regional Drama Theater on November 4.
