Ufa hosts "The Little Humpbacked Horse" ballet extravaganza premiere

On November 16 and 17, the Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theater will give a premiere of “The Little Humpbacked Horse” ballet extravaganza directed by Ivan Vasiliev. The work of the world-famous dancer, choreographer, Honored Artist of Russia, laureate of international competitions, the principal dancer of the Mikhailovsky Theater, the guest star of the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theaters, La Scala, the Bavarian Ballet and the American Ballet Theater is called the most anticipated performance of 2019.

The plot is based on the eponymous tale by Peter Ershov about the adventures of the peasant son Ivan, his magical friend Humpbacked Horse, the unearthly beauty - the Firebird, the beloved Tsar’s Maiden and the stupid Tsar. Rodion Shchedrin wrote the music for the ballet.

The artist Ivan Skladchikov created the colorful Art Deco design with stylized costumes and moving in time decorations. He is familiar to the Ufa audience by the opera Attila, which became the director’s debut of the singer Ildar Abdrazakov.

The directors differently interpreted the original fairy-tale plot of the ballet - Ivan Vasilyev and Ivan Skladchikov filled it with new, modern, content, and a sharp satire.

The musical director and conductor of the performance is the Honored Artist of Bashkortostan, laureate of the Russian National Theater Award “Golden Mask” Artem Makarov.

Gulsina Mavlyukasova, the prima ballerina of the theater, national artist of Bashkortostan, laureate of the S. Yulaev State Prize, laureate and diploma winner of international competitions is an assistant choreographer.
