Bashkir ballet after performance in Cannes was invited to festival in Venice

The Bashkir ballet performed with great success in Cannes (France). The ballet troupe of the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater showed the performance "La Bayadere" as part of the 22nd Festival of Russian Culture at the Palace of Festivals and Congresses.

Bashkir artists performed at the closing of the festival - an evening dedicated to the memory of Rudolf Nureyev. Leading parties were performed by the honored artist of Bashkortostan, laureate of the all-Russian and diploma-winner of international competitions Valery Isaev (Nikiya); Laureate of the 15th Open Russian Ballet Competition E. Maximova “Arabesque-2018” Sofia Gavryushina (Gamzatti); Honored Artist of Bashkortostan, winner of the All-Russian contest Oleg Shaybakov (Solor).

“We were invited to the same festival in Venice in 2021,” the art director of the ballet troupe, People's Artist of Russia and Bashkortostan Leonora Kuvatova, told Bashinform.

La Bayadere is one of the most beloved ballets of the ingenious Rudolf Nureyev, our compatriot who made his first creative steps on the stage of Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater. He danced this part on world stages, and in 1992 at the Grand Opera Rudolf Nureyev ended his career with his production of La Bayadere.

The director of the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater, Ilmar Almukhametov, suggested that the ballet troupe would take the name of Rudolf Nureyev.
