Bashkir ballet troupe will perform at Festival of Russian Culture in Cannes

On August 27, the ballet troupe of the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater will show the performance “La Bayadere” in Cannes (France) as part of the state project “22nd Festival of Russian Culture in Cannes”. According to the press service of the theater, the ballet La Bayadere will be presented to the public at the Palace of Festivals and Congresses (Grand Auditorium Hall).

The ballet troupe of the Bashkir Theater will perform at the closing of the festival - an evening dedicated to the memory of Rudolf Nureyev. Leading parties will be performed by the Honored Artist of Bashkortostan, laureate of the All-Russian and diploma winner of international competitions Valeriya Isaeva (Nikia); Laureate of the 15th E. Maximova’s Open Russian Ballet Competition “Arabesque-2018” Sofia Gavryushina (Gamzatti); Honored Artist of Bashkortostan, Laureate of the All-Russian Competition Rustam Iskhakov (Solor).

The ballet La Bayadere (1877) by Ludwig Minkus is one of the choreographic masterpieces of Marius Petipa, which adorns the classical repertoire of world theaters. La Bayadere is one of the most beloved ballets of the ingenious Rudolf Nureyev, our compatriot who made his first creative steps on the stage of the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater. He danced this part on various world stages, and in 1992 at the Grand Opera Rudolf Nureyev ended his career with his production of La Bayadere.
