Radiy Khabirov signed decree on 100th-anniversary celebration of M. Nesterov Museum

In 2020, Bashkortostan will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Bashkir State Art Museum named after M.V. Nesterov. The corresponding Decree was signed by the Acting Head of the Republic Radiy Khabirov on August 8.
The decree approved the composition of the republican organizing committee for the preparation and conduct of anniversary events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the M.V. Nesterov Bashkir State Art Museum. Besides, according to the Decree, the Government of Bashkortostan should develop and approve a plan of anniversary events.
M.V. Nesterov Bashkir State Art Museum is one of the oldest museums in Russia: founded on November 5, 1919, opened on January 5, 1920. In 1954, the museum was named after its founder - a native of Ufa, an outstanding Russian artist, academician of painting, Honored Artist of the RSFSR Mikhail Vasilyevich Nesterov (1862–1942).
The museum is located in the historical part of the city. The mansion is an example of a Russian manor of the early twentieth century. Before the revolution, the estate belonged to the timber merchant M. A. Laptev, was built in 1913 in the Art Nouveau style according to the project of the famous Samara architect A. A. Shcherbachev. The exposition of classical art is housed in the mansion, exhibitions in the new museum building built in 2014.
The beginning of the collection and the foundation of the museum were started with the gift of M.V. Nesterov in 1913. The artist presented his hometown a collection of Russian painting and graphic art from the second half of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries: 102 works, among them canvases and graphic works by I.E. Repin, I.I. Shishkin, N.A. Yaroshenko, V.D. Polenov, V.E. Makovsky, I.I. Levitan, K.A. Korovin, A.Ya. Golovin, A.N. Benoit, N.K. Roerich and other outstanding masters.
