Audio-visual encyclopedia of Volga region peoples will include footage about Bashkortostan

A large-scale project was launched in the Samara region, supported by a grant from the President of Russia – “Back to Roots” audiovisual encyclopedia.

This is a series of ethnographic expeditions, the result of which will be 14 videos about the culture and traditions of the peoples living in the Volga Federal District.

Filming will take place in the republics of Bashkortostan, Mari El, Udmurtia, Mordovia, Chuvashia, Tatarstan, Perm Territory, as well as Kirov, Nizhny Novgorod, Orenburg, Penza, Samara, Saratov, Ulyanovsk regions.

The project was developed by the autonomous non-profit organization “Center of Social and Intercultural Partnership “Sodruzhestvo” together with the Samara branch of the Inter-ethnic Journalism Guild.

Filming in the Volga Federal District will start in July and last until the end of November. The presentation of the project is scheduled for December.

The video films will feature creative communities, authentic performers, professional music groups, as well as masters of folk crafts and handicrafts.

The footage included in the audiovisual encyclopedia will be shown on regional TV channels, as well as transmitted to regional cultural and national centers.

The organizers assume that over 28 million people will watch the videos. Now the project team determines the districts and cities of the Volga Federal District, where the shooting will take place.
