Monument to Bashkir poet and public figure Shaikhzada Babich unveiled in Ufa

UFA, 28 June 2019. /Bashinform News Agency/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.
Today, on June 28, a monument to the poet and prominent public figure Shaikhzada Babich was unveiled in Ufa. The event was planned as part of the program devoted to the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Therefore, it was decided to combine the opening ceremony with the 5th World Bashkir Kurultay, which takes place today in the capital of the republic.
A six-meter bronze sculpture of Babich was installed in Zaki Validi Street in the square in front of the TV broadcast center. The creative concept was realized by the famous Russian sculptor, People's Artist of the Russian Federation Andrey Kovalchuk, known as the author of the monument to the national poet of Bashkortostan Mustai Karim.
The opening ceremony of the Babich monument became a meeting of generations: students, activists of youth fraternities, residents of neighboring houses and streets took part in the celebrations together with representatives of the republic’s leadership, participants of Bashkir Kurultay, famous public and cultural figures.
As marked in his speech by Radiy Khabirov, the Acting Head of Bashkiria, the opening of the monument to Shaikhzada Babich was a special, significant event for our republic.
The new art object was a continuation of the comprehensive work to preserve the memory of this outstanding son of the Bashkir people. Shaikhzada Babich stood at the origins of the formation of Bashkortostan. Today, the memory of the poet is kept in museums in Ufa and districts, and a street is named after him.
