Monument to outstanding Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukai will be opened in Ufa in April

In April, during the Days of Culture of Tatarstan, an unveiling of the monument to the outstanding Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukai will take place in Ufa. This was told to the Bashinform News Agency by the chairman of the Council of the Regional National-Cultural Autonomy of the Tatars of the Republic, deputy of the State Assembly of Bashkiria Rimma Utyasheva.

As the agency reported earlier, a competition for the creation of a monument project was announced by a decree of the government of the republic last year. The competition commission chose the best of the six projects submitted. The monument is currently cast by sculptor Vladimir Dvornik. The monument will be established on the square in front of the Ufa State Tatar Theater "Nur".

In Ufa, a memorial plaque was installed on a building in Sverdlov Street, where Tukai lived in 1912.
