One of the most famous and significant cultural forums in our country was held in Sochi - the 12th Winter International Festival of Arts (art director - Yuri Bashmet). The festival presented a program with the participation of leading Russian and foreign artists and groups.
Bashkir kurai and dumbyra musical instruments sounded at concerts as well. Students of the Ufa State Institute of Art Zemfira Rashitova (kurai) and Roza Zakirova (dumbyra) played both solo and in interesting compositions at the reporting concert in the Organ Hall and the Concert of Chamber Music in the Sochi Philharmonic Society.
“The festival had three educational directions - folk, instrumental and vocal departments. Kurai and dumbyra were included in the folk department as an experiment this year,” Zemfira Rashitova told Bashinform News Agency.
At the “Russia and the World Map” concert together with the Moscow Soloists Chamber Ensemble and Yury Bashmet, musicians from different parts of the world performed their national instruments: bandoneon, bagpipes, pipa, domra, guitar, kurai, dumbyra.
