Artificial Intelligence first wrote poems in Bashkir language.

Associate Professor of the School of Linguistics at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, Bashkiria native Boris Orekhov, created a neural network that can write poems in the Bashkir language.

“The digitized poetic works by 100 Bashkir poets of the 20th century became a source material, a so-called “learning set”. I have created a three-layer artificial neural network and taught it; that is, I have calculated the probabilities of following the letters in verses one after another. The computational process took more than 40 days on a powerful computer 8 cores with 30 GB RAM. I attribute all the poems that are generated by this network to a virtual author, named Neuroshagir”, says Boris Orekhov.

Artificial neural networks are used for various tasks of artificial intelligence, including speech generation. Such technologies are used by voice assistants "Alice" from "Yandex", Siri from Apple and the like. It is not the first experience when neural networks write poems. Previously, a similar service was presented by Yandex, but it can write poetry only in Russian. It is the first experience for the Bashkir, and, most likely, for any language other than Russian, in the territory of Russia.

In 2016, Yandex employees released the “Neural Defense” album with robot verses written in the style of Yegor Letov, the founder of the Civil Defense group. Also, in December 2018, the publishing house “Context” published the “Neurolyrics” book combining texts written in the style of poets from different eras, from antiquity in Russian to Silver Age and modern times.
