Radiy Khabirov discussed preparations for Folklore Festival 2020 with CIOFF President Philip Bossan

On January 22, Acting Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov met with the President of the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts (CIOFF) Philip Bossan. The meeting was also attended by the President of the Russian National Section CIOFF, Director of the V.D. Polenov State Russian House of Folk Art Tamara Purtova, members of the Government RB.

The parties discussed the preparations for the World Folklore Festival, which will be held in Bashkortostan in 2020, the press service of the head of the region reported.

“Our republic is very much honored by the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts, which decided to hold the next Folklore Festival in Ufa. Bashkortostan has experience in conducting major, significant international events. I believe that in this part, everything will work out well here”, said Radiy Khabirov. “We have already started preparing for the Folklore Festival, and have a quite clear understanding where the main venues will be located. In general, we have planned 10 venues in the republic. All work is being done as planned. You can rely on us”.

Philip Bossan spoke about the CIOFF activities and the preparations for the Folklore Festival 2020.

“Last October, we held the CIOFF World Congress in Ufa, which was attended by about 55 countries. But then only 200 people came here, and we expect about 2,500 participants at the Folklore Festival itself, the CIOFF president said. “We are just a year and a half away from our event, and I very much hope for our further fruitful cooperation.”

In the course of communication with journalists, Philip Bossan noted that currently, more than 70 countries from all over the world had already announced their participation in the 2020 Folklore Festival.
