Bashkirs and Tatars took part in International Cultural Fair in Switzerland for first time

In 2018, the Association of Tatars and Bashkirs of Switzerland was invited to the festival for the first time. The natives of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan presented their culture, national cuisine, souvenirs and dances at this festival.

The International Cultural Fair is organized every year by the United Nations Women's Guild in cooperation with government agencies, permanent missions accredited by the UN and the business community of Geneva. As part of the event, a prize draw with the collection of funds for children in adverse conditions around the world is conducted.

“Bashkir and Tatar national costumes, smiles and good mood became our feature. Many people asked us to take pictures with them, were interested in Bashkortostan and Tatarstan, and were amazed by the beauty of our dances. We met with representatives (and sometimes even ambassadors) of many countries, invited them to our Sabantuy in June 2019”, said our compatriot, a member of the UN agency, Aisylu Yanturina-Darles.

For many years, the fair has been a major event in the international community. The UN cultural fair attracts more than 6,000 visitors and gains about 300,000 Swiss francs. Stalls of arts, crafts, and food from all over the world are represented at the fair.
