Film about Rudolf Nureyev was included in Tokyo Film Festival competition program

UFA, 29 October 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. The documentary feature film “White Crow” dedicated to the great dancer of the twentieth century, Rudolf Nureyev, was included in the competition program of the Tokyo International Film Festival.
The film was created by English filmmakers. It was shot in St. Petersburg, Paris and Ufa, where Rudolf Nureyev spent his childhood years and danced the first parts in performances. The leading part in the film was played by the principal dancer of the Tatar Opera and Ballet Theater (Kazan), Oleg Ivenko. The film tells about three life stages of the ballet dancer. His childhood, passed in poverty, the beginning of his artistic career, the decision to emigrate and his life after the emigration.
The renowned British actor and director, twice Oscar nominee Raif Fiennes directed the film and played the role of the ballet dancer’s mentor.
The largest film festival in Asia is taking place in the Japanese capital from October 25 to November 3. Total, 1829 applications from 109 countries were received this year for participation in the Tokyo International Film Festival. Of this huge amount, only 16 films were selected, which the organizers of the event considered the best. Among them there was the "White Crow", the website "Kulturologia" reports.
