Zugura Rakhmatullina: Folklore Festival is unique opportunity to present Bashkiria globally

The State Duma Deputy, Chairman of the Assembly of Peoples of Bashkortostan Zugura Rakhmatullina as part of the official delegation of the State Duma participated in the work of the Standing Committee for Social and Cultural Affairs of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. The authoritative international organization of parliamentarians from countries of the Asian continent unites 42 member states and 16 observer countries.

The forum discussed current issues of cultural diversity, preservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage in Asia, a dialogue of religions, issues of migrants, quality health care, gender equality, Asian integration through the use of information technologies was held in the city of Çeşme of the Republic of Turkey.

Numerous resolutions were adopted following the topics discussed. Within the framework of the forum, the State Duma delegation held meetings with parliamentarians from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Thailand, at which specific areas for further inter-parliamentary cooperation were identified in the interests of both the Asian region and countries.

Zugura Rakhmatullina spoke in the context of the topics under discussion and especially noted that in 2020 for the first time in Russia, the multinational Bashkortostan would host the 6th World Folklore Festival.

“The Folklore Festival is a unique cultural opportunity to present our republic to the world and get acquainted with the folk art of other peoples”, said Zugura Rakhmatullina.

The International Council for the Organization of Folklore Festivals and Folk Art (CIOFF) is currently actively working with its representative offices in countries wishing to apply for participation in the Folklore Festival. Russia and Bashkortostan are waiting for their guests and participants, the parliamentarian noted.
