16th International Festival "Chaliapin’s Nights in Ufa" completed in capital of Bashkortostan

UFA, 26 September 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. The 16th International Festival of Opera Art "F. Chaliapin’s Nights in Ufa" came to an end in the capital of Bashkortostan.

For almost two weeks, Ufa hosted both opera stars and young soloists. In Ufa, a premiere of the "Faust" opera by S. Gounod was staged by George Isaakyan with Askar Abdrazakov as Mephistopheles.

The "Rigoletto", "Tsar's Bride", "Carmen" performances were shown with the participation of guest artists. The Perm Chorus MusicAeterna gave a concert, an evening of romances by Sergei Rachmaninov gathered chamber music lovers. Within the framework of the festival, the Fyodor Chaliapin International Vocal Competition was held for the second time.

The final chord of the traditional cultural event was a gala concert of opera soloists and guest artists.

A whole constellation of famous opera names took part in the concert – the Honored Artist of Belarus Oksana Volkova and Honored Artist of Belarus Stanislav Trifonov (Bolshoi Theater of the Republic of Belarus), laureate of the international contest Anna Nechaeva (Bolshoi Theater of Russia), laureate of international competitions Yulia Matochkina (Mariinsky Theater), People’s Artist of Bashkortostan Askar Abdrazakov (Mariinsky Theater), Merited Artist of Kazakhstan Medet Chotabaev and Merited Artist of Kazakhstan Zhupar Gabdullina (Astana Opera), as well as soloists of Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theatre, and the holders of the Grand Prix, the first and second prizes of the 2nd F. Chaliapin International Vocal Competition.

Artists sang opera arias accompanied by the theater orchestra conducted by the winner of the Golden Mask Award, the main conductor of Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theatre Artem Makarov.

The Head of the Bashkortostan Republic Rustem Khamitov attended the gala concert.
