CIOFF representative noted similarity between Bashkiria and Chile traditions

On September 22, in the Congress Hall of Ufa, a meeting was held between the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government RB Salavat Sagitov, the Chairman of the State Committee for Foreign Economic Relations Ruslan Mirsayapov, with the representative of the Latin American and Caribbean Islands sector in the Council of CIOFF Victor Fierro and the national delegate from the Republic of Chile, Christian Hake. The sides discussed the cultural issues of the two republics, options for cooperation, as well as the preparations for the World Folklore Festival, which will be held in Bashkortostan in 2020.

"We are very fortunate that representatives of more than one hundred nationalities live in Bashkiria, and we believe that this is indeed the blend that we must cherish. It happened that this land was always a crossroads between Europe and Asia, between the West and the East and absorbed the traditions of many peoples. We try to preserve and develop what we have inherited - this is an asset that we cannot lose", Salavat Sagitov said.

Victor Fierro noted the similarity between the traditions of Chile and Bashkortostan.

"There is a great similarity between the native traditions with the traditions of Bashkortostan in the territory of not only Chile but the whole continent. These are ornaments in decorations, clothes, and musical instruments, which are very similar to your traditional folklore. And, of course, these are artisans' items," he said.

Representatives of Bashkiria and Chile touched upon the issues of holding the World Folklore-2020.

"In a year, when the 49th World CIOFF Congress will be held in Santiago (Chile), we would like to form a delegation and present our republic as a venue for the World Folklore Festival-2020. This will be an additional bond for our relations", said the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government RB.

"This is very good news. We are looking forward to welcoming your delegation. We hope that we will establish contacts not only with the organization of the Folklore Festival, but we will also communicate, cooperate, and be friends. I am glad that we visited Bashkiria as part of the CIOFF event. I think this is the first step in the way of our development", said Victor Fierro.
