It is planned to erect monument to outstanding ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev in Ufa

In the capital of Bashkiria, an electronic tender was announced to perform engineering and survey works on the facility "Manufacturing and installation of the monument to Rudolf Nureyev." This is reported on the official website of public procurement. Almost 336 thousand rubles can be allocated from the Ufa budget for this procedure.

Let us remind that earlier the architects of Kazan announced the installation of a monument to the world famous ballet artist. Today in the capital of Tatarstan a place is selected for erecting a monument made by Zurab Tseriteli.

Rudolf Nureyev is a Soviet, British and French ballet dancer and choreographer, soloist of the Leningrad Opera and Ballet Theater. In 1941, Rudolph and his mother were evacuated to the Bashkir ASSR. He began to dance in the children's folklore ensemble in Ufa, studied at the House of Culture at the St. Petersburg ballerina Anna Udaltsova, who was there in exile. In 1961, after the completion of the company's tour in Paris, he asked for political asylum, becoming one of the most famous "defectors" in the USSR.

In Ufa, the name of Rudolf Nureyev is given to the Bashkir Choreography College and the International Ballet Art Festival held annually since 1993 on the stage of the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater, as well as to one of the city streets. The museum of Rudolf Nureyev was created in the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater. Also, a memorial plaque and bas-relief in honor of the dancer are installed in the city.
