Folklore Festival is excellent opportunity for Bashkiria to become globally famous - CIOFF

UFA, 20 September 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Alfiya Agliullina/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/.The "Folklore Festival-2020" is a great opportunity for Bashkiria to present its culture to a huge number of people and to become globally known. This was stated during a press conference at the Bashinform News Agency by the Chairman of the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts (CIOFF) Philip Bossan.

"Our organization annually holds about 400 festivals around the world, and I am very glad that Russia is their active participant. All this is done in order to establish peace and friendship between representatives of the most diverse national cultures", marked the head of CIOFF.

He also noted that the 48th World Congress of CIOFF opened in Ufa, which gathered about 200 delegates from 60 countries of the world in the capital of Bashkiria.

"CIOFF is a non-governmental organization working in the interests of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the whole world in cooperation with UNESCO and other authoritative associations. At the Congress you will have an opportunity to get acquainted with a great number of cultures and introduce your own there", said Philip Bossan.

According to him, the main theme of the Congress will be preservation and development of folklore traditions. Also the members of the Committee on Folklore Festival CIOFF are to conduct an inspection of the facilities that will be used during the "Folklore Festival-2020" in Ufa.

The facilities that may be used as venues for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Folklore Festival were also announced at the press conference. These are the "Akbuzat" racetrack and "Ufa-Arena".

"We assume that a closing ceremony of the Folklore Festival will take place at the "Ufa Arena". Perhaps, it will be an ice show that would characterize our Russian culture", the Deputy Prime Minister RB Salavat Sagitov shared some of the plans. "In addition, activities within the framework of the Folklore Festival are planned in all cities and regions of the republic. We will try to show the guests of our republic all the richness and diversity of the culture of the peoples of Bashkortostan".

It should be added that from September, 21 to September, 23, the 3rd Eurasian International Humanitarian Forum on Culture and Folk Art will take place in Ufa. It will be held in the framework of the activities of the 48th World Congress and the General Assembly of CIOFF under the auspices of UNESCO.
