Monument to Rudolf Nureyev will be opened in Kazan

In Kazan on the Day of the City and the Republic of Tatarstan on August 30, it is planned to open a monument to ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev, who began his creative career in Bashkortostan. This is reported by "Tatar-Inform" news agency referring to the chief architect of Kazan Tatyana Prokofieva.

The monument by Zurab Tsereteli already exists, and all decisions on its placement in Kazan have already been taken. It remains only to determine a place of its installation. Among the possible options are considered the territories at the Opera and Ballet Theater (in front of the main entrance and in the square behind the theater building), the Millennium Park, the Farmers' Palace, the Kamal Theater, and in the St. Petersburg Street (near the Rotunda close to Aidinov Street), etc.

In Ufa, the name of Rudolf Nureyev is worn by the Bashkir Choreography College and the International Ballet Art Festival, held annually since 1993 on the stage of the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater, as well as one of the city streets. The Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater accommodates a museum of Rudolf Nureyev. Also in honor of the dancer, a memorial plaque and a bas-relief are established in the city.

On the stage of the Mazhit Gafuri Bashkir Drama Theater, the "Rudy - Never off" play was staged. The director of the performance is Airat Abushahmanov, choreographer Rinat Abushahmanov, the main lead was performed by Ural Aminov. The premiere of the play was held on December 15, 2012.
