Ufa Miras ensemble conquers Paris and French cities

A "CIOFF® Dances and Music of the World" event was held at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, with the assistance of the CIOFF (International Council of Organizers of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts) devoted to the preservation of the intangible heritage and cultural diversity of countries and regions of the world. Dance and music groups from Argentina, Nicaragua, Indonesia, Nigeria, France, Chile, Estonia, and Russia were invited there. The Ufa Miras song and dance ensemble was invited to perform on such a prestigious stage representing Russia.

Salavat Iskuzhin, the soloist of the Miras Ensemble, who was in the Bashkir costume, was honored to welcome all delegations with the CIOFF flag. The evening was closed by our artists too. The Miras choir sang the anthem of the festival - the song by John Lennon "Imagine".

Within the framework of the "Dances and Music of the World" International Festival, a number of official meetings took place at UNESCO Headquarters. The head of the Bashkir delegation, the deputy head of the Ufa administration Syntimir Bayazitov met with the director of the UNESCO department for education Svein Osttveit. During the meeting, issues of further cooperation in the field of education and culture were discussed.

At a meeting with CIOFF President Philippe Bossan, they discussed issues related to the preparation and holding of the World Folklore Festival 2020 in Ufa. Bossan noted that now CIOFF was actively preparing for the meeting of the General Assembly CIOFF. The meeting will be held in Ufa in September this year.

A meeting was also held with Karina Bidart, Chief Executive Officer of the Paris Economic Development Agency Paris & Co. The theme of the meeting was cooperation between cities in the development of tourism and urban issues.

Immediately after the performance at UNESCO Headquarters, the ensemble departed for a festival tour over the French cities. From July 2 to July 9, the International Festival of Folklore "Echanges, Cultures et Traditions du Monde" will be held in Romans-sur-Isere district. In addition to participating in it, the dancers will meet with local residents in the Municipal Social Center of Bourg-de-Péage, Villa Borea Romans, in the Maurice-For Square, will take part in animation for local residents, visit museums and performances.

Then, until July 16, the ensemble will go to the Intercontinental Folk Music and Dance Festival in Segre district. Local residents will also be able to see performances by teams from countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Algeria, Uruguay, and Colombia, the Ministry of Culture RB informs.
