Bashkirs and Tatars gathered in Geneva for Sabantuy national holiday
UFA, 19 June 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/ translated by Tatiana Aksyutina/. The Bashkirs and Tatars of Switzerland and Europe gathered in Geneva for the Sabantuy national holiday.
The holiday has traditionally been held for the third year already in Marignac Park in Geneva. The organizers of the event were the Association of Tatars and Bashkirs of Switzerland "Yuldash".
The guests were offered a rich cultural and sports program. The participants were treated to Bashkir honey, chak-chak, and other national dishes. The total number of participants of the Sabantuy reached 500 people.
The holiday was opened in the Bashkir and Tatar languages and then was continued in Russian and French. A welcoming speech was delivered by the Vice-Consul of Russia in Switzerland.
The organizer of the holiday Aisylu Yanturina-Darles noted that an agreement was reached to hold a Sabantuy in Milan in 2019.
The concert program featured artists from Geneva, Lausanne, Annecy, the republics of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan.
Kuresh wrestlers came to the Sabantuy to carry out sports events. A judge from Tatarstan arrived in Geneva to evaluate the participants. A batyr Aibulat Yanturin became the winner of the competition.
This year Udmurt Tatars also joined the festival, they designed their own exhibition stand.
