22nd International Jazz Festival "The Pink Panther" opened in Ufa
UFA, 9 April 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. The 22nd International Jazz Festival "The Pink Panther" opened in Ufa. A traditional event takes place in the Bashkir State Philharmonic Society from April 6 to 8.
The American trumpeter, John Marshall was a headliner of the festival and of the first day. Since 1996, John has released eight CDs.
Also, the opening day of the festival featured the Russian jazz singer Lyudmila Swarovskaya and guitar player Nikita Boldyrev for the first time on the stage of the Bashkir Philharmonic Society.
Lyudmila Swarovskaya, the Russian jazz singer was included in the prestigious long-list of the Grammy Academy of Music in 2017; she is a founder of the international jazz competition-festival "Jazz Birds", a founder and head of the "Prizvanie" pop-jazz vocal studio.
Nikita Boldyrev, the acoustic guitar performer, is both a classical and a jazz musician. In 2006, he was awarded a state prize for the talented youth support under the Presidential Decree.
Traditionally, all three days an Oleg Kasimov’s Big Band is on the stage. The lindy-hop dancers performed in the foyer of the Great Hall before the concerts and in the intermissions.
Headliners of the second day are jazzmen from Italy Greta Panettiere (vocal) and Andrea Sammartino (piano).
