6th World Folklore Festival program, which will be held in Bashkortostan in 2020, is approved

UFA, 12 March 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. The Government of Bashkortostan approved a plan of measures for the preparation and holding of the 6th World Folklore Festival in the Republic in 2020. The corresponding document is posted on the official portal of legal information.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bashkortostan, a number of events will be held within the framework of the preparation for the largest folklore festival: the International competition-festival of musical creativity of Turkic youth "Ural Mono", the All-Russian Sesen Festival, the International Arts Festival "The Heart of Eurasia". Also in 2019, the "Ural-Batyr" ethnic centre will be created. In September this year, Ufa will host the CIOFF World Congress.
According to the document, in the first half of 2018 a logo and a brand book of the folklore festival will be developed, and a website of the event will be launched. The "Folklore of Bashkortostan Peoples" encyclopedia will be published in the Russian and English languages.
"The decision to hold the 6th World Folklore Festival in Ufa is recognition of Bashkortostan's contribution to the development of interethnic harmony, friendship and brotherhood among nations, and thereby strengthening the unity of Russia. No doubt, Bashkortostan, which has experience in holding international events such as the SCO and BRICS Summits, will cope with this important task", the Head of the Republic Rustem Khamitov stated.
The World Folklore Festival is a part of the official events of the International Council of Folklore Festivals Organizations and Folk Arts (CIOFF). Traditionally, it involves about three thousand artists from 60-80 countries. The first Folklore Festival was held in 1996 in Holland, the second - in 2000 in Japan. Hungary became the third venue for conducting the festival. In 2012, the fourth World Folklore Festival CIOFF was successfully held in South Korea. The country hosting the World Folklore-2016 was Mexico.
In October 2015, it was announced at the 45th World Congress and the CIOFF General Assembly that the Folklore 2020 will be held in the Republic of Bashkortostan.
