Unique exhibition will show portrait of Mikhail Nesterov’s wife in Moscow

UFA, 29 January 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Ksenia Kalinina/. On February 1, the "Wives" exhibition will open in the Moscow Museum of Russian Impressionism. Visitors will see unique canvases depicting the spouses of great Russian artists from the collections of regional museums and private collections. Guests of the exhibition will learn interesting details of their lives in an extensive educational program. The museum director Julia Petrova told the RIA Novosti about it.
The "Wives" will unite more than 40 portraits of great Russian artists’ spouses. According to Julia Petrova, work on the project started at the beginning of the last year. During this time the specialists conducted a serious research and art work, preparing a unique exposition.
"Traditionally, compiling temporary exhibitions we bring a lot from regions. These works usually cannot be seen by Muscovites, since, alas, domestic tourism is poorly developed in our country. Paintings from all over Russia were brought at this exhibition. For example, there is a picture which presence is highly estimated by me at this exhibition - a portrait of the wife of Mikhail Nesterov. We brought this picture from Ufa, persuaded the Ufa colleagues for a long time, because they did not want to part with it for such a long period ... It is especially valuable for our guests that here, in a single space, pieces of art will be collected most often inaccessible to Muscovites", said the museum director.
