Bashkir writer-satirist Marsel Salimov was awarded Ernest Hemingway International Prize in Canada

UFA, 18 January 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Alik Shakirov, Michael Spivak/. Winners of the Ernest Hemingway Literary Prize 2017 were announced in Canada. This prestigious international award was given to 13 writers from Russia, Canada, the USA, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Finland. Among them there was a famous Bashkir writer, one of the most notable satirists in Russia, laureate of many international literary prizes, creative competitions and festivals Marsel Salimov.
The collection of humorous and satirical works «The President’s Cat» (Moscow, 2016) was nominated for the award the International Academy of Literature and Arts of Ukraine.
The Canadian annual literary award was established in 2015 by the publishing house "Litsvet" and the "Novy Svet" magazine (Toronto) to support Russian-speaking authors. It is dedicated to the outstanding American writer, Nobel Prize laureate in literature Ernest Hemingway, who began his career in Canada, working as a reporter for the Toronto Star newspaper.
The jury consists of venerable writers, poets, journalists, literary critics and publishers. The geography of the works submitted for the award in 2017 has significantly expanded. The comic story by Marsel Salimov, which was liked by the members of the jury, "No time to die" was published in the Novy Svet magazine.
Awarding new laureates of the Ernest Hemingway International Literary Prize will be held in February as part of the poetry festival in Niagara Falls, Canada.
