Application to register kurai as music brand is filed to Rospatent

UFA, 18 January 2018. /Bashinform News Agency, Elmira Sabirova/. The first application for registration of the Bashkir national instrument - kurai as a musical brand was submitted to the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent). This was reported by First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee for Science, Education and Culture Liliya Gumerova.

"Today in Russia there is only one registered instrument - the Tula accordion. We hope that kurai will also be added to it", the representative of the republic said at a meeting of the upper house of the parliament.

She noted that all senators received a guide to action on the registration of brands.

"However, when we have examined all the received questions, we realized that in spite of great desire there is still lack of knowledge in this area. In this regard, we propose to hold a large seminar in March, where it will be explained how to properly register a regional brand", Liliya Gumerova said, having asked the senators to submit potential brands for registration by March.

Earlier, the Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko instructed the senators to register per two brands in their regions.
