Brazilians and American singer, native of Ufa participated in "Jazz Island"

UFA, 21 December 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. The traditional 8th Open All-Russian Festival Competition "Jazz Island" took place at the central venues of Ufa - the Bashkir Philharmonic Society, the Shalyapin Concert Hall of Ufa Institute of Arts, "Ogni Ufy" entertainment complex.
This year guests of the festival were the leading Brazilian percussion performer Leo de Paula (Espiritu Santo State), as well as the American singer of Russian origin Anna Kolchina. They gave several free master classes (percussion, marimba, jazz vocals) for Ufa jazz youth, students of colleges and universities of the republic.
Leo de Paula played at the most prestigious jazz scenes, such as Carnegie Hall (New York, USA), Kolarak Hall (Belgrade, Serbia), Paleyskerk (The Hague, The Netherlands), Purcell-Rum (London, England) as part of the internationally recognized Camerata Brasil /Vale Música group.
Anna Kolchina, Ufa native, graduated from the Ufa Art College, then studied in St. Petersburg. She has a very successful solo career in the USA. She became an exclusive soloist of the major Japanese label Venus Records, specializing in modern jazz, having released CDs of jazz titans such as Archie Shepp, Lee Konitz.
The goals and objectives of the festival are to identify and support gifted children and young people who are engaged in pop and jazz art, promote and popularize pop and jazz art. The geography of the contest now includes not only Ufa and Bashkortostan (large cities where the jazz movement has existed for a long time, like Oktyabrsky, Salavat , Sterlitamak), but also Samara, Togliatti, Kazan.
