Cinema Foundation will support cinemas in the regions

UFA, 26 July 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Alfiya Agliullina/. The Cinema Foundation announced a new contest for the support of cinemas, within which funds will be distributed in the amount of one billion rubles. As in previous contests, the funds are provided for each cinema hall in the amount of up to 5 million rubles on a non-refundable basis. As before, an indispensable condition for a modernized cinema hall is demonstration of domestic films in the volume of not less than 50 percent of the screenings per quarter. The deadline for applications is July 31 - August 25, 2017.

In 2015-2016, the Cinema Foundation already allocated three grants for the modernization and equipping of cinemas with digital equipment.

According to the results of the last three contests about 70 million rubles were allocated for the modernization of 14 cinemas in Bashkortostan. Reconstruction works are being carried out in three cinemas more, the regional Ministry of Culture informs.

The federal program for the support of cinemas is aimed at expanding the geography of cinema shows in the country. The reason for its launch was a low level of cinema coverage in the country. The main objective of the program is to assist creation of new cinema halls in communities where there is no such facility.
