"The Scarlet Flower" ballet premiere will open 80th season of Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theatre

UFA, 18 July 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Alfiya Agliullina/. The jubilee 80th creative season of the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theatre will start on September 30. It will be opened by the premiere of the family ballet "The Scarlet Flower", staged by a team of directors from Moscow.

The music and libretto for the ballet were written by the composer Vladimir Kuptsov, native of Bashkortostan, working in Moscow. The choreographer, People's Artist of Russia Andrey Petrov, stage designer Grigory Belov and costume designer Olga Polyanskaya became his colleagues.

According to the press service of the theatre, the new production is part of the creative project "The Russian Duet - Opera and Ballet" and is implemented for the grant of the Head of the Republic of 13.5 million rubles. It is expected that the premiere based on the fairy tale by Sergei Aksakov will be timed to the annual International Aksakov Festival.

"The Scarlet Flower" tale was first published by the author in 1858 as an appendix to the autobiography "Childhood of Bagrov the Grandson". The first ballet "The Scarlet Flower" to the music of F. Hartmann was staged in 1907 at the Mariinsky Theatre. In Soviet times, the premiere of "The Scarlet Flower" to the music of K. Korchmarev took place at the Novosibirsk Theatre in 1949.
