Rustem Khamitov: "The decision to hold Folkloriada in Ufa is recognition of Bashkortostan's contribution to interethnic harmony development"
UFA, 2 June 2017. /Bashinform News Agency/. The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed the Decree "On holding the 6th World Folkloriada ".
The document notes that, in accordance with the decision of the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts (CIOFF), the Russian Federation was given the right to hold the 6th World Folkloriada in 2020. According to the Decree, it will take place in Ufa.
Due to the fact that this international event is of great cultural importance, the Government of Russia is tasked to form an organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the 6th World Folkloriada, which should develop and approve a plan of the main events.
The Decree established that the costs funding associated with the preparation and conduct of the forum will be carried out within the budgetary allocations provided for in the federal budget to the Ministry of Culture of Russia.
“The decision to hold the 6th World Folkloriada in Ufa is recognition of Bashkortostan’s contribution to the development of interethnic harmony, friendship and brotherhood between peoples, and thereby strengthening the unity of Russia. No doubt, Bashkortostan, which has experience in holding international events such as the SCO and BRICS Summits, will cope with this demanding challenge,” Rustem Khamitov noted.
The World Folkloriada is part of the official events of the International Council of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts Organizations (CIOFF). Traditionally, it involves about three thousand artists from 60-80 countries.
The first Folkloriada was held in Holland in 1996, the second - in Japan in 2000. The third place for the Folklore was Hungary. In 2012, the fourth World Folkloriada Festival CIOFF was successfully held in South Korea. The country hosting the World Folkloriada-2016 was Mexico.
In October 2015, it was announced at the 45th World Congress and General Assembly of the International Council of Organizing Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts (CIOFF) that the Folkloriada 2020 will be held in the Republic of Bashkortostan.
