London publisher told about modern literature trends in Ufa

UFA, 2 May 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. In Ufa, a meeting was held with the London book publisher, the representative of the Hertfordshire Press publishing house Marat Akhmedzhanov. A group of writers and publishers came to Ufa for a presentation of the International Festival and Forum of the Open Central Asia Book Forum & Literature Festival.
Heads and employees of Bashkir publishing houses - Kitap, Inesh, USPTU attended the meeting. Marat Akhmedzhanov told his Ufa colleagues and journalists about modern international trends in literature and features of his organization activity.
The publisher believes that "the text should be original and correspond to the current international trends." He thinks that the success of the 15-year-old author of the youth bestseller from South Africa Megan Werner "It's Up to Me" is exactly due to this. The Megan's book is a book of advice for teenagers, it teaches them how to overcome difficulties. The motivational book consists of a series of short stories about the teenager life. The publisher says that having taken part in the Eurasian literary competition, every novice writer can succeed. The publication of the winners' books is paid by sponsors.
"The fact that you have achieved success in your country does not mean that you will be in demand in the world. The world lives by other rules. In England, 186,000 titles of books are published for a year", Marat said. "We do not pretend to select a new Pushkin, Lermontov, Dostoevsky - this is not a function of the English publishing house. We select those books that would be of interest to an English-speaking reader around the world."
Marat Akhmedzhanov was born and raised in Uzbekistan in the family of architects-builders. In 2018, there will be 20 years as he has been working in the publishing industry. He started with publication of a youth magazine in Tashkent. It had commercial success, and Marat was the first to receive a private license. In 2005, Marat Akhmedzhanov graduated from London University of Arts and became a Master of Arts in publishing. In England, together with partners, he opened a publishing company.
