21st Nureyev Festival will be devoted to Yuri Grigorovich 90th anniversary in Ufa

UFA, 28 April 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. From May 23 to June 2, the Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theatre will host the 21st Rudolf Nureyev International Ballet Art Festival. It will be dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the outstanding choreographer, People's Artist of the USSR Yuri Grigorovich, on the initiative of which in 1993 the festival was established.

The 21st Rudolf Nureyev International Festival of Ballet Art will be attended by outstanding dancers from Russia and abroad. Among them there are soloists of the Ballet of San Francisco, the Slovak National Theatre, the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, the "Kremlin Ballet" Theatre, the St. Petersburg Musorgsky State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre - Mikhailovsky Theatre, ballet troupes of Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk theatres.

On May 23, 2017 the festival will be opened with a new scenographic version of the first Bashkir ballet "Crane Song" by L. Stepanov and Z. Ismagilov, which became a classic of national choreography. The program of the festival includes the performances "Swan Lake" with participation of invited soloists of the Mikhailovsky Theatre; "La Bayadere" with soloists of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia; "Romeo and Juliet" of the Yekaterinburg State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre (the performance is a laureate of the Russian National Theatre Award "Golden Mask-2017"); "Corsair" with soloists of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia; "Esmeralda" in the production of the Chelyabinsk M.I. Glinka State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.

By tradition, the festival will be closed with a gala concert of ballet art stars.
