Bashkortostan native was chosen Goodwill Ambassador in Canada

UFA, 3 April 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. The native of Bashkortostan Farida Samerkhanova has been elected the Goodwill Ambassador in Canada. She presented Bashkortostan and Russia at the celebration of the 150th anniversary of Canada. Farida, who has lived in Toronto for many years, shared this news in the "Bashkirs Abroad" group in social networks.

"I was chosen as the Goodwill Ambassador. The families of the Samerkhanovs and Ovezovs presented Bashkortostan within the framework of this celebration. The presentation aroused interest, almost each of 400 participants of the festival asked questions, wanted to take pictures with us", Farida said.

According to her, some people for the first time learned that not only Russian people live in Russia.

"The fact that Muslims also live in Russia caused a sincere surprise", says Farida. “We have made a kind of sensation in the Canadian society, having demonstrated our folk costumes, flag, household items, souvenirs".

The mayor of the city of Mississauga (Ontario province) handed over Farida Samerkhanova a diploma for public activity.
