Russian theatres will bring their performances at Rudolf Nureyev Ballet Art Festival in Ufa

UFA, 19 January 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. The 21st International Festival of Ballet Art named after Rudolf Nureyev will take place in Ufa. It will be carried out at the Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theatre from May 22 to June 2. Celebrations in honour of the ballet will be dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the famous choreographer Yuri Grigorovich. It was on the initiative of Grigorovich that the Rudolf Nureyev Festival was established in 1993, and Yuri Nikolaevich is its Honourary President up to this day.
The festival opens with the renewed staging of the first Bashkir ballet "Crane Song" by Leo Stepanov and Zagir Ismagilov.
The festival will be attended by guest soloists of "Kremlin Ballet" Theatre and the Bolshoi Theatre (Moscow), the Mikhailovsky Theatre (St. Petersburg), Grand Opera (Paris); artists from Slovenia, the USA, Sweden and Japan; ballet troupes from Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar and Chelyabinsk. The festival of ballet performances will feature the "Swan Lake" by Tchaikovsky and "La Bayadere" by L. Minkus with guest soloists. Viewers will see the "Romeo and Juliet" ballet by Prokofiev performed by artists of the Yekaterinburg Opera and "Raymonda" ballet by A. Glazunov – the Yuri Grigorovich’s Krasnodar Ballet Theatre, "Esmeralda" by Cesare Pugni – performed by artists of Chelyabinsk Theatre of Opera and Ballet. The Ballet festival will end a traditional gala concert of ballet stars.
