UFA, 19 October 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/. A new phase of restoration works begins at the Shulgan-Tash Cave in Burzyan District. It will allow discovering previously unknown images. The Scientific and Production Centre for the Protection and Use of Immovable Cultural Heritage of Bashkortostan and the Historical and Cultural Reserve "Shulgan-Tash Cave" organized another visit of the restorer, expert in the field of rock art preservation Guillaume Anton Eudal from Andorra-la Vella, Principality of Andorra to our republic from October 19 to November 2,.
As the Scientific and Production Centre informs, this working visit is scheduled for restoration works on the ground floor and some tests on the first floor of the Shulgan-Tash. Also training of the centre and "Shulgan-Tash Cave" employees will be continued together with cleaning the walls and removal of graffiti in the cave.
In the autumn of 2015 during the wall cleaning from graffiti, which was held by the international expert E. Guillaume, it was discovered that under clay and calcite deposits still unknown images were hiding. In further restoration work, it is expected to discover some previously unknown drawings and signs. The restoration of the walls significantly improved aesthetic visual perception of the object and was one of the conditions for the inclusion of the Shulgan-Tash Cave in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
